WINNER of the Abia State All Progressives Congress (APC) primary, Dr. Uche Samson Ogah, has nominated Hon Martins Azubuike, a member of the state House of Assembly, as his running mate for the 2019 governorship election.

Disclosing this during a visit to former Abia State governor and APC chieftain, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, in Igbere, in Bende Local Government Area, Ogah said he was overwhelmed by the support by APC members during the primary election. He said the APC was ready for the electioneering and to take over Abia State. Ogah, a few days ago, won the APC governorship ticket, beating other aspirants.

In 2015, he was an aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who went to court to challenge the candidature of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, over tax matter. he Court of Appeal upheld his argument and declared him governor-elect, ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue him Certificate of Return. The Supreme Court, however, upturned the verdict.. Hon Azubuike is also a serving member of the Abia State House of Assembly from Isiala Ngwa North.

Popular choir Director, Dynamite Z Alumuna puts down a very touching story about Nigeria on Independence day https://www.vondanews.com/popular-choir-director-dynamite-z-alumuna-puts-down-a-very-touching-story-about-nigeria-on-independence-day/ Tue, 02 Oct 2018 06:50:09 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13920

The Director of the popular know Gospel music group, World Mass Choir and the CEO of Zfarms took to his Facebook handle to put down a very pathetic story about our dear country Nigeria.

Dynamize Z Alumona, World mass choir Director and CEO Zfarms Limited

In his story, he breaks down the different struggles we are facing in our nation ranging from the lack of electricity, ill-equipped hospitals to theft from big telecom companies.

He shrugged of the idea of celebrating Nigeria independence when children are hopelessly begging for food on the streets

He also took time to suggest what should be best for the country.

Should I tell my children the truth?
It pricks my conscience son! Son!
Do you know I shouted UP NEPA
More than 30years ago?
Today both of us still shout UP NEPA
Like children in the countryside do
Whenever new moon appears at night

Should we celebrate October 1
When our hospitals are ill-equipped and ill-staffed.
When our leaders still travel across the sea
For medical check up

Should we celebrate when banks deduct
And charge me for ATM maintenance
ATM card in my pocket?

Should we celebrate when I have to cover myself
With Odighi Eshi charms just to protect my vote
Yet,my choice is rigged, when i can cast my vote
At the comfort of my phone

Should we celebrate when cost of foods are so high that minimum wage cannot afford them. When baby in the womb knows life is hard here.

Should we celebrate when snake and monkey could be more corrupt with loots. When recovered loots are looted again and again.

Should we celebrate when individuals provide their own water, electricity and medical, government still collect taxes.

Should we celebrate when pensioners are not paid after many years of meritorious services. Some died without honour.

Should we celebrate when workers are owed salary for months running into years. When seat of power is drenched with debt and evil.

Should we celebrate when our soldiers beg their enemies for water and food. Some died needlessly without honour.

Should we celebrate when we are more divided by hunger and joblessness.Religion and ethnicity only prosper in our hunger and want.

Should we celebrate when national television sweeps the truth under carpet.Judges are harassed in their sleep, locked up in cells.

Should we celebrate when our security personnel see bribery as status Quo.When security personel are partisan.

Should we celebrate expired educational system.Where teachers live above their means.Where strike is a status quo.

Should we celebrate more poverty rated in overpopulation and hyper-inflation.

Should we celebrate politics without ideology
Leadership without vision and mission.

Should we celebrate when our youths still cross atlantic ocean for a better life, only to sleep forever under the ocean.
The ones left in the country are political thugs and cultists.

Should we celebrate when prostitution is now a profession, most patronage comes from elites.

Should celebrate when best brains are rewarded with yam, while sex promoters are rewarded with jumbo packages.

Should we celebrate when we have Internally Displaced People, when we are not at war.

Businesses are crumbling, no road, we live in hell. This country defies finest economic policy, nothing grows here.To survive you must be a religious rogue or political merchant.

Should we celebrate when telecom companies could steal my data when I am asleep at night. Because no company can survive in this clime without stealing.

Should we celebrate when children are hopelessly begging for food on the streets. Future generations for that matter.

The list is endless…….I am tired…
#Nottooyoungtorun #Toopoortorun ……
I am tired ……I think i have to cross the atlantic.

#AfamBuDynamite-z my suggestion though is let’s sale this country and share the money..

The governor also pledged to provide more democracy dividends for the people in his second tenure, while asking Rivers people to vote massively to return the PDP to power in 2019.

Independence anniversary: Why Nigeria is not great – Kumuyi https://www.vondanews.com/independence-anniversary-why-nigeria-is-not-great-kumuyi/ Mon, 01 Oct 2018 06:31:24 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13907

General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church Worldwide, Pastor William Kumuyi, on Sunday said Nigeria had been unable to march its development with inherent possibilities because of the people’s failure to either harness or utilise the nation’s diversity for their collective greatness.

According to Dailypost report this morning, Kumuyi stated this while delivering the sermon at an interdenominational church service held in Abuja to mark Nigeria’s 58th Independence Day anniversary.

He said that Nigeria was endowed with resourceful citizens who could drive the nation to envious heights.

However, he regretted that contentions and divisions had deprived the citizens of personal and national greatness in times past.

Kumuyi stressed that Nigeria would be on the path to greatness if citizens were united and there was a harmonious coordination of the nation’s diversities.

He said: “No doubt, our nation, like the Corinthian church, is endowed with highly resourceful citizens by the Almighty God.

“Selfless and committed to our national development, we could easily become the envy of many nations but our national development has not matched our great possibilities like Corinth.

“Each one has an important part to play in the development of the nation.

“In the nation, mutual support and encouragement, sincere recognition and involvement of all well-meaning and qualified citizens are necessary to avoid wastage of lives and resources.

“We can and we must put the past behind us to build a great nation for the present and the coming generations.

“Interdependent, interconnected, interrelated, we are on our way to national greatness: we are unstoppable.”

Lagos APC primary: Sanwo-Olu fires back at Ambode over fraud, drug abuse claims https://www.vondanews.com/lagos-apc-primary-sanwo-olu-fires-back-at-ambode-over-fraud-drug-abuse-claims/ Mon, 01 Oct 2018 06:28:50 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13904

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a Lagos governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has responded to claims made by the state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, during his world press conference on Sunday.

Sanwo-Olu, in a statement sent to DAILY POST, called for respect and insisted that “my pursuit of office will continue to be based upon issues that matter to Lagosians and not on attacks against someone’s character, even when he attack mine”.

He also stated that he has forgiven Ambode ahead of Monday’s primary and “hopes he regains his balance and proper comportment no matter the outcome of tomorrow’s contest”.

The full statement read: “Let it be heard by all that I hold the people of Lagos state with great respect and affection. Their welfare is my utmost concern and it is what drives my pursuit for the governorship nomination of the APC. As such, I also hold the office of governor of our state in high esteem. I shall never consciously do anything that will undermine the dignity of the office nor will I engage in personal attacks against the holder of that officer. My pursuit of office will continue to be based upon issues that matter to Lagosians and not on attacks against someone’s character, even when he attack mine. For anyone to engage in unwarranted character attacks against me, reveals more about that person’s character than it says about mine.

“Thus, I felt sad for Lagos as I watched Press Conference by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. Many things he said was beneath the dignity of our people and the exalted office he now holds. Perhaps the tension and anxiety of the moment got the better of him. If given a chance at cooler reflection of what he said, I am sure he would regret his descent into such low conduct. In this vein, I forgive him and hope he regains his balance and proper comportment no matter the outcome of tomorrow’s contest. After all, we are both here to improve Lagos not to wrestle in its streets.

“However, I must clear up some inaccuracies in the Governor’s statement. His allegation of that I was arrested for spending fake dollars at a night club in the United States was untrue. In fact, the governor knows I travelled to the United States just last month. I would not have been allowed to travel or even get a visa if I had been involved in what the Governor falsely alleged.

“That the Governor claimed I underwent some unidentified type of “rehabilitation” at the Gbagada General Hospital was also shameless and untrue. Promulgation of salacious rumor should not be part of the job description of a governor. This is not the stuff of high office. People should question whether itis ethically right for the Governor to turn what should beconfidential medical information about a citizen into a weapon of political warfare? But for avoidance of doubt, let it be stated that I never received any treatment whatsoever at the Gbagada General Hospital.

“Today, instead of making a convincing defense of his performance, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode sought to sow fear into the hearts of Lagosians.

“But Lagosians are an intelligent and brave people. They can see through the smoke and the fog. I am here not to tear my opponent down but to help build Lagos up. With me, you will hear about progress on education, health, sanitation, proper tax levels, economic development, infrastructure, jobs, public services and other things that enhance the lives of people. I am a serious person and this primary is a serious matter. I have not the time or inclination to attack character when there are so many real issues to address.

“We will continue to focus on the issues that matter in the lives of the people of Lagos. Lagosians want an answer to the sanitation crisis cast loss of jobs caused by Mr. Ambode’s Visionscape misadventure. Our people will want to know why Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has not been able to build a single General Hospital in the State when his immediate predecessor Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) built 11 General Hospitals. Lagosians are waiting to hear what our solutions are. They want to know why hundreds of competent civil servants got summarily dismissed and how this has undermined public services.

“As a candidate for the party’s nomination and hopefully as your next governor, my approach will not be to sling insults but to propose solutions to the problems of the day.”

Ribadu pulls out of Adamawa governorship race, gives reasons https://www.vondanews.com/ribadu-pulls-out-of-adamawa-governorship-race-gives-reasons/ Mon, 01 Oct 2018 06:27:06 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13901

Nuhu Ribadu, a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, has withdrawn from the race.

This was confirmed in a statement signed by Salihu Bawuro, director-general of his campaign, on Sunday

Ribadu explained that the APC in the state did not agree to direct primary election demanded by aspirants.

“While we and greater majority of APC family in Adamawa state supported giving power to the people through direct primaries, the party decided to adopt indirect primaries at the last minute.

“We were opposed to indirect primaries ab initio because we believe the process that brought those expected to participate in the process was fundamentally flawed.

“When the party congresses were held in May, we cried that no elections were held in Adamawa and the officials were only handpicked by those who hijacked the process.

“This was not addressed. We are therefore under no illusion of a fair contest in the hands of those so-called party officials,” the statement read.

The campaign organisation however stated that Ribadu will continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari and won’t leave the party.

“We are also sure that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu will continue to remain in APC, and continue to support the good works of President Muhammadu Buhari, and his candidature as product of direct primaries,” it added.

Gary Neville exposes who is to blame for Manchester United’s crisis https://www.vondanews.com/gary-neville-exposes-who-is-to-blame-for-manchester-uniteds-crisis/ Mon, 01 Oct 2018 06:11:00 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13898

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has refused to blame manager Jose Mourinho for the club’s recent decline.

Neville, writing on Twitter on Sunday, instead claimed that United have “lost all sense of values”.

The Red Devils were beaten 3-1 by West Ham on Saturday at the London Stadium, which now leaves them without a win in three domestic fixtures.

United haven’t won the league since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, and Neville believes that lack of leadership from United’s board members has caused the decline.

“This mess started when United sacked David Moyes after 8 months and we lost all sense of the values that the club had been built on for 100 years.

“It’s not the manager it’s the lack of football leadership above him. They are bouncing all over the place with no plan!” Neville wrote.

When a supporter came back at him, saying David Moyes should never have been appointed in the first place, Neville replied: “That’s another question but when they sacked him after 8 months it went into pinball , reactive mode and chasing it! No plan…”

Manchester United players believe Mourinho will be sacked this week https://www.vondanews.com/manchester-united-players-believe-mourinho-will-be-sacked-this-week/ Mon, 01 Oct 2018 06:06:23 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13895

Manchester United players and staff believe that Jose Mourinho could be sacked by the end of this week, SportsMail reports.

United lost 3-1 at West Ham on Saturday to record their worst start in 29 years.

The Red Devils are almost out of the top 10 and nine points off the top of the Premier League table.

Players and staff were said to be openly discussing the prospect of Mourinho losing his job, as they made the journey back by train to Manchester on Saturday afternoon.

The defeat comes after a week in which United were dumped out at the third-round stage of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Derby and another public clash with Paul Pogba in training.

The club’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, had publicly stated that he will not make knee-jerk decisions and Mourinho will not walk away from a £15million-a-year contract.

United have also dismissed suggestions that they have already spoken to Zinedine Zidane over Mourinho’s job.

The Frenchman is available and understood to be keen on taking the post should United turn to him.

Manchester United speak on replacing Mourinho with Zidane after West Ham defeat https://www.vondanews.com/manchester-united-speak-on-replacing-mourinho-with-zidane-after-west-ham-defeat/ Mon, 01 Oct 2018 06:02:38 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13892

Manchester United are not in the process of hiring Zinedine Zidane as their next manager, despite mounting pressure on current boss Jose Mourinho, club sources have told ESPN FC.

United were beaten 3-1 by West Ham on Saturday, to extend their winless run to three games.

This has led to a renewed speculation that Zidane who was in London this week, is in the frame to take over at Old Trafford.

However, the club has dismissed talk of an approach to Zidane, as “nonsense.”

Mourinho’s position is under the spotlight, after a draw with Wolves and the Carabao Cup exit to Championship side Derby County, was followed up with a dire defeat at the London Stadium.

The result leaves United nine points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool and Manchester City after just seven games.

Ashley Young insists Manchester United must bounce back against Valencia https://www.vondanews.com/ashley-young-insists-manchester-united-must-bounce-back-against-valencia/ Sun, 30 Sep 2018 12:00:52 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13889

Jose Mourinho does not have long to pick up his beleaguered Manchester United squad following their latest setback at West Ham.

United’s problems deepened as they followed up a home draw with Wolves and the Carabao Cup defeat by Derby with a tepid display in a 3-1 defeat at the London Stadium.

Mourinho controversially left Alexis Sanchez out of his squad and hauled off record signing Paul Pogba with 20 minutes to go.

Now he somehow has to get a group of seemingly-disenchanted players back on side in time for a potentially pivotal visit from Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

‘You’ve got to put it behind you quickly and when you have these types of results you want a game as quickly as possible,’ wing-back Ashley Young told the club’s website.

‘We’ve got that in a couple of days time, so we’ve got to dust ourselves off quickly and get rid of the disappointment.’

Despite the obvious gloom surrounding United, West Ham were thoroughly deserved winners.

They took the lead after five minutes through Felipe Anderson and doubled it just before half-time when Andriy Yarmolenko’s shot was deflected in by Victor Lindelof.

Substitute Marcus Rashford pulled one back but any hopes of a comeback were immediately snuffed out by Marko Arnautovic’s fourth goal of the season.

The Hammers suddenly look a world away from the side who lost their first four matches of the season, having taken seven points off Everton, Chelsea and United as well as putting eight goals past Macclesfield in the cup.

‘The club and the fans deserve a win at home,’ said Arnautovic. ‘We had a couple of bad ones before that, but in the last three games we have been brilliant.

‘We needed to do our jobs and we did it excellently. That’s why we deserved the win.’

Cristiano Ronaldo’s reasons for leaving Real Madrid are revealed https://www.vondanews.com/cristiano-ronaldos-reasons-for-leaving-real-madrid-are-revealed/ Sun, 30 Sep 2018 10:12:26 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13886

Real Madrid said goodbye to Cristiano Ronaldo in July of this year, but the player’s journey through the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu exit doors began in May of 2017.

His problems with the Spanish tax authorities kicked off a series of discussions and decisions which ultimately led him to Turin and to Juventus.

This is according a fresh report published by El Mundo.

They reveal that Ronaldo held a meeting at the home of his agent Jorge Mendes in May of 2017, with his advisors in attendance.

“I said I didn’t want any risks,” Ronaldo told his advisors, referring to the legal troubles that had been caused by tax non-payments.

“I didn’t study and the only thing I’ve done in my life is play football, but I’m not stupid and I don’t trust anyone.

“That’s why I always pay 30 percent more than is requested when I hire an assessor.

“It’s because I don’t want problems.”

Lawyer Carlos Osorio, who was at the meeting, explained that he had been in charge of these fiscal issues, but urged Ronaldo not to worry.

Some months later, when he had to make a pact with the tax authorities, he became very angry.

“I never said not to pay taxes!” he exclaimed to his advisors.

“I want to know what happened.

“I don’t understand anything, as the taxes should be paid by sponsors, so why do they accuse me?”

Having had to fork out payments to the Spanish tax authorities, Ronaldo hoped that Real Madrid would offer him an improved contract to soften the financial hit, as he believed Barcelona had done with Lionel Messi.

Yet the capital city club wanted to keep a distance from Ronaldo and his legal issues, which he viewed as a betrayal.

He also considered it a lack of respect that Messi was earning double his wages and that Neymar had moved ahead of him in the salary rankings after the Brazilian’s move to Paris Saint-Germain.

His anger became so much that Zinedine Zidane reportedly spoke to the directors to ask them to solve the issue, claiming that Ronaldo was discussing it too much in the dressing room.

On top of all that, the Portuguese was also irritated by the fact that Alfredo Di Stefano was continually discussed ahead of him when it came to the topic of Real Madrid’s best ever player.

“They always put me behind Di Stefano and I don’t know what more I have to do,” he is believed to have said.

In the end, the relationship with Real Madrid reached a point where he decided to leave and to move on, joining Juventus and beginning a new adventure in Italy.

Lopetegui’s contradiction with Vinicius Junior https://www.vondanews.com/lopeteguis-contradiction-with-vinicius-junior/ Sun, 30 Sep 2018 10:06:37 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13883

Vinicius Junior was too raw last month, in the words of his teacher Julen Lopetegui. Now, the young Brazilian has gone from being too fresh to being mature enough to be sent on to try to win a derby on his first-team debut. Lopetegui did not allow him to debut in a favourable situation. No, he sent him on to play in the last minutes against Atletico Madrid. It’s hard to remember a case of such growth, or of someone be so unprepared to play suddenly being unleashed in a match of that profile.

It can be said that Lopetegui had an explanation for the change. He wanted to put him up against Juanfran, who Dani Ceballos had already worn down, and to unbalance the left flank. However, it is surely disconcerting for Mariano that, with the scores locked at 0-0, Vinicius was chosen ahead of him. This is the forward that Lopetegui had waited for for so long. This is the player who debuted against Roma and marked it with a sensational goal. This is a scoring specialist, just when Real Madrid desperately needed a goal.

Vinicius got the crowd excited. He looked to get to the byline a couple of times, but also lost out in duels. In one play it seemed like Jose Maria Gimenez was a teenager and Vinicius a child as the Uruguayan took the ball with astonishing ease.

Lopetegui was postponing the debut of the Brazilian, but used him when least expected. It was especially so given that there was a player on the bench who was so sought after by the coach, whose position is now weakened. Mariano didn’t play at San Mames and hasn’t started. In the derby, Vinicius came on ahead of him.

Vinicius could have debuted against Roma, but Lopetegui did not include him in his squad. Even against Espanyol he was left out and ended up going with Castilla. These were matches much less demanding than the derby, if the plan was to protect the player. The message was that Vinicius wasn’t ready to play against Espanyol, but that he could take on Segunda B side Cultural. Then, six days later, he comes on at 0-0 for his debut against Atletico. It has been a strange example of management in the case of Vinicius.

Mourinho to Pogba: You are the anti-captain https://www.vondanews.com/mourinho-to-pogba-you-are-the-anti-captain/ Thu, 27 Sep 2018 19:24:01 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13880

The relationship between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho is broken with the events of recent days causing a problem that shows no sign of reversing, especially as it’s believed the coach told the player directly that he was an anti-captain.

It’s a dig from the Portuguese which suggests the Frenchman is anything but captain material at Manchester United.

Mourinho is under huge pressure at Old Trafford because of United’s latest results, and isn’t willing to entertain the player’s attitude any longer.

Pogba had criticised the tactical approach of the coach in the game against Wolves that ended with a 1-1 draw.

“At Old Trafford we would always have to attack, attack and attack,” he’d said.

“But at 1-0 we backed down to defend and didn’t show our true level again.

“I think we have more alternatives to show on the field.”

Mourinho’s punishment was swift and brutal, especially as Pogba was later seen on social networks laughing while United were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Derby.

“You are the anti-captain,” he said directly to Pogba.

“And you won’t wear the armband whilst working with me again.”

The coach would explain the reasons for this decision in a subsequent press conference.

“Pogba doesn’t represent what a captain should convey at United, and the club is above anyone,” Mourinho said to reporters.

There is also the desire on the players’ part to leave United.

Barcelona have shown interest but Juve are also bidding for him.

Low disappointed after Ozil snub https://www.vondanews.com/low-disappointed-after-ozil-snub/ Thu, 27 Sep 2018 19:11:59 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13877

The Germany boss admits he must accept that the Gunners star “does not want to talk to us” after failing to meet the midfielder while in London

Germany head coach Joachim Low is disappointed and confused by Mesut Ozil’s apparent disinterest in holding face-to-face talks.

Low visited Arsenal’s training ground during a trip to London this week, reportedly to meet with the club’s academy manager, former Germany defender Per Mertesacker.

He is believed to have also held discussions with Bernd Leno and Shkodran Mustafi but Ozil was not present at the time.

The playmaker retired from international football in July after a dismal World Cup campaign which saw the four-time winners exit the competition in the group stage. The Gunners midfielder cited discrimination against his Turkish heritage from the German Football Association as a key motivating factor behind his decision, which had also been a major talking point before the tournament began.Low has previously spoken of failed attempts to contact Ozil over the phone and the pair’s relationship appears to remain at a low ebb.

“Mesut was not [at the training ground], so we have to accept that he does not want to talk to us at the moment. I do not know the reasons,” Low said in quotes reported by German media.

“Personally, I am disappointed that if you have worked together for so long… I would have liked a personal conversation.

“Of course I would have taken the chance to speak with Mesut Ozil, [he is] still close to my heart.”

Osun rerun: Why I signed alliance with APC for Thursday rerun -Omisore

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has explained why he decided to form an alliance with the All Progressives Congress,APC ahead of Thursday Osun State rerun election.

Omisore who had been visited by PDP and APC leaders for an alliance on Wednesday finally announced his decision to join APC.

On why he signed alliance with APC, Omisore in a letter he personally signed on Wednesday, titled: ‘Formation of Coalition Government and Rerun of Governorship Election on Thursday 27th September, 2018, on Osun State,” said his decision to form an alliance with the APC was because of its readiness to adopt and implement SDP’s programme.

The letter reads, “Our decision to form a coalition government is based on a party that is ready to work with SDP to adopt and implement the core values of our party which is social justice, equity and good governance.

“The PDP and APC parties have approached us for coalition based on our performance and grassroots network, especially in the seven units earmarked for rerun.

“Our core values and philosophies as indicated in our SDP manifestos, ‘Restoration Agenda,’ have all been presented to the APC and PDP representatives who have approached us for support and formation of a coalition government.

“The core party’s programmes include: “Professionalism and Performance in the Public Sector,” which by interpretation, “Workers must be motivated and trained; Payment of the accumulated salaries; Pensions and arrears within the first three months of the administration; to be followed by payment of full salary to all categories of workers.

“Revamping of Education Sector; Equity in Access to Services across Osun State; Local Content and Innovation in the Investment and Development of the state; Focus on robust and Effective security of all and sundry.

“Restoration and uplifting the condition of service Obas and Chiefs in the state.

“For the ‘Restoration Agenda’ to be effectively implemented, SDP, Osun State would ensure that her core values are considered and incorporated into the development agenda of a party of choice for a meaningful coalition.

“In this regard, we have forwarded our proposals for coalition government to the PDP representatives headed by the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and the APC high-powered delegation by Dr Kayode Fayemi, the newly elected governor of Ekiti State.

” The APC had since come back to accept all the conditions proposed to them by us to form a coalition government, while the PDP party is yet to respond.

“We have therefore as a party, SDP, accepted to support the APC for victory in the rerun election tomorrow and therefore form a coalition government.”

Osun rerun: How PDP should handle Omisore’s alliance with APC -Omokri https://www.vondanews.com/osun-rerun-how-pdp-should-handle-omisores-alliance-with-apc-omokri/ Thu, 27 Sep 2018 07:12:58 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13872

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party to be diplomatic in their reaction to the decision of Senator Iyiola Omisore to support the All Progressives Congress, APC in Thursday’s governorship rerun in Osun State.

Omisore had on Thursday announced his decision to pitch his tent with the APC after consultations with his party members which stirred backlash from some PDP Chieftains.

PDP Chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode on his part described Omisore’s decision as shameful, adding that his decision might deprive Ile-Ife indigenes of producing a Deputy Governor.

But reacting, Omokri urged leaders of PDP not to throw insults at Omisore, but to appeal to him.

The former presidential spokesman, therefore, called on those insulting Omisore to withdraw same.

Omokri tweeted: “Rather than PDP chieftains insulting Omisore for supporting APC, what we should do is appeal to him.

“We must have the power of diplomacy, since we dont have power of incumbency. I urge those who insulted Omisore to apologise and urge him to reconsider.”

Primate Ayodele predicts outcome of Osun election, Ambode’s fate, 2019 polls https://www.vondanews.com/primate-ayodele-predicts-outcome-of-osun-election-ambodes-fate-2019-polls/ Thu, 27 Sep 2018 07:10:45 +0000 https://www.vondanews.com/?p=13870

Popular prophet and founder of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele has predicted that a well-coordinated coalition of opposition parties would dethrone the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state, but warned that the ruling party may still win on technical grounds such as relying on loopholes in the nation’s electoral laws.

Primate Ayodele had made the predictions in his annual book of prophecies, entitled: “Warning to the Nations” 2018/2019 edition. The book was launched some months ago in Lagos.

The prophet had said: “In Osun State, some natural resources will boost the economy if the state will be discovered and harnessed. The state needs prayers against debts. I foresee that the people will kick against the present government of the state. The coning election will be tough. I forsee that the APC, PDP and ADP will be the prominent political parties. The APC and PDP should be focused because either of the party will be enthroned. There will be series of political gang ups in the state. The APC needs to win in technical ground so as to retain the the governorship seat otherwise ADP or PDP will take over.”

The cleric had also predicted the political travails of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, advising him to seek the face of God: ” Lagos State needs prayers for divine intervention. The governor will face some political challenges. The governor will face political conspiracy. Let us pray against explosion and flood in Lagos,” he said.

The APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been wooing the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator lyiola Omisore as he is believed to hold the key to either side winning in some polling units among the ones the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) penned down for a re-run on Thursday.

Omisore has now announced an alliance with the APC.

Following controversial reactions trailing INEC’s declaration of the September 22 election as inconclusive, the PDP national body on Sunday, called on INEC to announce the party’s candidate, Ademola Adeleke as governor-elect on the grounds that he had the highest vote count in the Saturday’s governorship poll in the state. It accused INEC of colluding with APC to rob its candidate of victory at the poll. APC has however denied colluding with INEC, stating that the electoral umpire’s decision was taken in the best interest of democracy and fairness.

Speaking about the general elections in 2019, Primate Ayodele urged Nigerians to brace up for more challenges as the Government of the day would not tolerate criticism. He hinted that some forces behind the Federal Government would take concrete measures to ensure they hold on to power beyond 2019 even though Nigerians will decide otherwise.

“Nigerians need to seriously seek the face of God ahead of the 2019 general elections. There are forces in the present government who would do anything to ensure the current Federal Government does not lose power,” he said.
